Dobra Don

we are stonecutters
fishing people
              build walls
we pick grapes
and tend our sheep
along this rocky coast

we know death
we know birth
the child plays
where the old aunt lies in the room behind the kitchen

we dance              yes
fight if war
Dushan sings to the night sky
and then works his fields at dawn

we know to lead our animals
and follow our souls
