Into Light

i — know — it

To point to where will we go, we will start with where we will conclude, namely that the descriptive logic of the universe is an irreducible sentence of the form “i-know-it.” Something of this form informs itself. The logical form of such a universe will appear to satisfy that of the form consciousness. It is the development and formalization of this assertion which is the topic here.

The motivating questions are “How does one make claims of truth and reality?” and “Do such claims show commonality in their structures?”

Here, these questions are taken as a reflection primarily on dualism and physics in relation to holism and Vedanta. Swami Vivekananda points out that spiritual truth does not contradict reason. So, the thrust of the query here has been to explore science and yoga from their viewpoint. The approach has been to frame the questions in the form of whether salient features of both physics and Advaita Vedanta can be illuminated by introducing a logic which directly incorporates the role of the knower.

The goal is to propose that a logical symbolism can be developed which spans or over-arches a range of ‘darshans’ (ways of seeing, or perspectives on knowing truth and reality), and which allows one to contemplate foundational relations between them.

The immediate project is directed towards developing logical expressions of the form “knower knowing known”, or more simply, of the form

i know it

which is implicitly the form of one making claim of ‘it’ as truth or reality.
